Hey. My name is Heath Saraceno. I play guitar in Senses Fail. I go on tour. I eat food. This is the food that I eat while on tour.

Email suggestions to heathlovesfood@gmail.com if you know of a sweet spot I should try.

IN N OUT BURGER - DOUBLE DOUBLE ANIMAL STYLE
I’m not really a big fast food guy.  I’ll eat it out of necessity on tour, and even at that I don’t enjoy it.  I do have a strange OCD tendency that whenever I’m in an airport I have to eat McDonald’s, but besides that bizarre quirk (which is half superstition), I stay away from it.  However, when I go to California, the first thing I want to do is go to In N Out Burger.
In N Out doesn’t count as fast food to me.  Sure they’re a burger joint, sure your food is made most likely by a teenager, and sure it’s bound to clog your arteries, but there’s something so classic about it that it just seems better.  The burgers are cooked to order, not left in a grease pit until you ask for one then slopped on a bun; the fries are squeezed from whole potatoes in front of your eyes, not mass produced and pre-fried at some warehouse in Idaho; and the staff are generally nice, clean looking people in good moods who don’t hate the fact that they’re flipping burgers; as opposed to the typical miserable McDonald’s worker.
Anyway, it took four full days in California to finally get around to going to In N Out.  This was our last day in the state too, so it was really my last chance to go until at least July.  I was not going to let this chance pass me by or I knew I would be kicking myself all day.
I ordered 2 burgers, both Double-Doubles, one regular and one Animal Style.  I had planned to eat one and save the other for later.  There is a secret menu at In N Out, and “Animal Style” is probably the most famous of its options.  It denotes that pickles, grilled onions, and an additional sauce (1000 Island dressing) are added to the burger.  These extra items can also be added to fries, along with a slice of cheese to make Animal Style fries.
I couldn’t wait to dive in to my meal, so I ate my fries on the way back to the hotel, and when I got there, I was so excited that I tore into the burger immediately.  I was about halfway through my burger before I realized that I hadn’t taken a picture of it.  So that’s why it looks like a messy pile of slop.
It didn’t disappoint.  It never does.  The one I saved for later was awesome too, and I even heated it up in the microwave!
