LA TAQUIZA - CARNE ASADA TACOS
We showed up to the club at around 2 pm today on account of a 14 hour drive from Seattle.  Since I had no food left on the bus, I was ravenous when we arrived.  I didn’t want to waste any time investigating what was around, so I just hopped out of the bus, went the opposite way of the McDonalds, and walked into the first restaurant I saw.
That restaurant happened to be La Taquiza.  La Taquiza is set up kind of like a cafeteria with a rail for your tray and a fountain for your soda refills.  I didn’t even have to look at the menu to know what I was going to order - I had been craving carne asada tacos since I woke up.  In addition to my tacos, I also ordered a side of refried beans and a bottle of real sugar Coke straight from Mexico.
I could tell by the weight of my bag that this was not going to be a light meal.  In addition to the steak, the tacos were filled with pinto beans and a pile pico de gallo.  There wasn’t too much flavor going on, but the meat was tender and most importantly, filling.  This was after all, a maintenance meal.  A maintenance meal heavily improved upon by this bottle of Crystal hot sauce.
Crystal isn’t my first choice for hot sauce, but we had a bottle of it in the fridge and I knew it would get the job done.  It has a nice vinegar flavor and it isn’t as hot even as Cholula, which I consider to be on the low end of the heat scale.  One thing the Crystal couldn’t help was the beans.  They were very thick and like the meat, didn’t really have much flavor.
